Greg Ray Guitar Lessons’ Review
“Hey Greg! It's John Stephenson. I used to take lessons from you a couple of years back. I just wanted to conact you and let you know what kind of impact you made on my life. I'm currently a sophomore at Dallas Baptist University and I'm also working as the Junior High Worship Leader at my church. I play guitar or bass guitar on a regular basis so your lessons have really paid off. I'll admit I don't remember some of my scales, but something that's helped the most is leading those concerts we would do. That was really some of the first times I sang in front of crowds and now I sing in front of people every week. So thanks for teaching me and giving me the opportunity to learn from you. It was really amazing.”

“We are so grateful that we found Greg many years ago when our son expressed his interest in the guitar. Almost ten years later, my son still looks forward to his weekly lessons and has flourished at the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts with a concentration on jazz— all thanks to the strong musical foundation and strong individualized instruction that Greg provides. Greg is a gem among guitar teachers and we are fortunate to have such a talent in our community.— The Seigel Family.”

“Greg Ray is a fabulous guitar teacher. When we decided to introduce our son to guitar we searched for the type of music teacher we would have wanted when we were children. Greg is that type of teacher and the best there is. Our son learned to play a song the first lesson and has excelled at guitar ever since. He is now a student at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts where he studies guitar. The guitar skills and music theory Greg taught our son were the key factors in his being accepted to Booker T. Washington. Thanks to Greg, our son will enjoy playing guitar for the rest of his life.- Jeff and Mary Beth Johnston.”

“We got lucky early on. But for our son, Max, now studying music at Berklee College of Music it all started because of that luck. Eight years ago, 12 year old Max wanted to play guitar. For a lack of creativity we went to Guitar Center and asked around. Two sales dudes recommended Greg Ray. Max has not looked back.
Greg's teaching approach was clearly adapted to Max's style of learning. Each week, Greg would ask Max which song he wanted to learn. They poured over technique, musicianship and artistry. Max would come back, they'd tweak it then Greg would say, "what song do you want to learn this next week? And on the cycle of learning unfolded.
Years later, when Max auditioned for Booker T Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Greg coached Max on how to play Donna Lee at full speed (google that song). Max's preparation and expertise was jaw dropping. Out of 76 auditioning guitarists, Max was one of a handful selected.
Max loves music. He is a profoundly talented guitarist. We owe a HUGE debt of gratitude to Greg Ray!
So if you're reading this review and you're looking for a guitar teacher for your kid (or you?) -then consider yourself lucky!”

“Greg Ray is clearly the best guitar instructor in Dallas. He is great with young students, no one better at preparing for Booker T, and even the most notable pro's in Dallas seek him out for instruction.”
- Craig Parrish
“Greg Ray has been my daughter's guitar instructor for three years, starting from beginner. He has not only taught her great skills, but has instilled in her a love for playing the instrument. He keeps lessons interesting and is great at aligning with the student's musical tastes and interests. I highly recommend Greg.”
- Erik Bruno
“Both my kids started learning guitar with Greg seven years and five years ago respectively. Greg is a fantastic teacher, and works well with kids. The fact that both my kids continue to enjoy their weekly guitar lessons is testament of this. I couldn’t recommend Greg more!”
- Nicolas Dolle
“Greg is a great guitar teacher. My daughter has been taking lessons from Greg for six years and has learned a tremendous amount of music theory, guitar technique, and site reading. She recently auditioned for Booker T. Washington and was accepted. We highly recommend Greg."

“Greg has taught our son for almost 8 years. During that time they have explored a variety of styles (jazz, blues, classical and rock) and reviewed music theory. His skill and love of guitar have blossomed under Greg's guidance. We look forward to our son studying many more years with Greg.”

“I have taken lessons from Greg for over a year and a half now, and I can comfortably say that he's the best guitar teacher in the area--especially for Jazz / beginners and intermediate players. He's a phenomenal guy, who consistently surprises me with his vast array of knowledge and playing skills. Look, most people who want a teacher don't want to be a professional they just want to play guitar. Greg has got you there in spades.
Looking for more than that? Greg has got you there too with his genuine knowledge of theory and sheet music as well. Greg is 5 stars, I saw / see this man every Thursday. I am probably a 60% better guitarist because of Greg and wouldn't have the love for music today if he hadn't been pushing me along, and inspiring me to get better. He will push you, he will test you, but he's a nice guy while doing it.
Lastly, he works with kids regularly and is also great at this. I have watched him work with them while waiting for my lesson and he's got the patience for it, no doubt. Go to him if you want to learn guitar, nothing more needs to be said.”

“I have been taking lessons from Mr. Ray for a while now, starting when I was in second grade and picking lessons back up after college. He has been a great mentor and teacher over the years, entertaining every genre of music I threw his way.
His unmatched level of patience and skill is the reason he works so well with all of his students from beginners to seasoned players and from children to adults. Beyond being a phenomenal teacher, he loves to share his passion for music with you through music theory and stories about legendary guitarists.
If you are looking for a guitar teacher in Dallas, look no further because you have found him.”

“Greg has been my teacher for a few years now and I can say that my experience is phenomenal. I believe I got much further with his lessons than I would have sticking with the self-taught route!”
- Brent Washington
“Greg is awesome - he’s been teaching both of my boys (currently 1st & 3rd grade) for about a year and they are both playing incredibly well. He’s a total pro!”
